JACQUES MAJORELLE

1886-1962

Born in Nancy, France.

This french orientalist painter arrived in Morocco in 1917 and was, immediatly, seduced by Marakesch deciding to live there.

The palm grove where he lived and collected rare plants, known as Jardin Majorelle, was bought by Yves Saint Laurent saving it from real estate develop.

He died in a car accident.
