W. EUGENE SMITH
1918-1978
Born on  the 30th December in Wichita, Kansas, USA.
He was graduated from Wichita North High School in 1936.
When he moved to New York he began working for NewsWeek as a photojournalist and, later, for Life Magazine using a 35mm camera.
He joined the Magnum Photo Agency in 1955.
In 1972, because of his photos of Minamata in Japan, where factory discharging poison causing disease to the  population, he was attacked and severe injured.
Two years later he left Minamata to live in New York his last four years of life.

BO BARTLETT
Born on the 29 December 1955 in Columbus, Georgia, USA.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Very young  traveled to Florence, Italy, to study art.
In 1975 returned to USA and continue his artistic preparation at the University of Arts in Philadelphia, and later at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
He is a realist painter with a certain modernism vision.

ÉLON BRASIL
Nasceu em 1957 em Niterói, Brasil, filho do pintor baiano Milton Brasil e neto de imigrantes portugueses e italianos.
Desde muito cedo, ainda criança, começou a desenhar e a interessar-se pela arte.
Os seus trabalhos, sobretudo a obra figurativa, mostra-nos as gentes da sua terra - índios, negros e caboclos.

WERNER BISCHOF
1916-1954
Nasceu em Zurique, Suiça.
Com 16 anos começou a estudar na Escola de Artes e Ofícios de Zurique. Nessa altura teve como mentor Hans Finsler, um fotógrafo dedicado à Nova Objectividade.
Em 1942, tornou-se membro do editorial da revista DU, onde trabalhava como fotógrafo de moda.
Quando a guerra terminou viajou um pouco pela Europa e foi fotografando a destruição  que ficara.
Fotografou os Jogos Olímpicos de Inverno em St Moritz (1948) para a revista Life.
E assim acaba por alterar a sua forma de trabalhar e passa a fotojornalista não descurando a sua sensibilidade pela perfeição técnica.
Em seguida fez viagens fotojornalísticas pela India, Japão, Hong Kong, Indochina e Coreia.
Trabalhou também para a Picture Post, The Observer e Illustrated.
O seu grande êxito foi o ensaio fotográfico Fome na India.
No entanto, todos conhecem a sua foto Rapaz a tocar flauta perto de Cuzco, no Peru. Foto tirada dias antes do seu acidente fatal nos Andes Peruanos.

ALAN FELTUS
Born 1943 in Washington, USA.
He studied at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and then a bachelor's degree in Fine Art from Cooper Union in New York. And also a degree in Fine Arts from Yale University.
Since 1987, he lives and works in Assisi, Italy.
He is married with the artist Lani Irwin.
Feltus paints poetry, quiet paintings as a figurative painter of contemporary classicism, fascinated by the Italian Old Masters.
He said "I paint using mirrors, observing parts of myself rather than models. I might say that all my paintings are, to some degree,  self portraits".
