ANA MARIA PACHECO
Born in 1943 in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil.
She studied Art and Music in Goiás were she taught and lectured at the University.
In 1973 went to London and there studied at the Slade School of Art. Until now she lives and works in th United Kingdom.
She is an artist of extraordinary diversity creating as a painter, a printmaker and a sculptor.
The polychromed wood sculptures, life-size figures, are amazing. They are cloaked in ebony black, the eyes are onyx, with multi-ethnic faces.
Her sculpture "Shadows of the Wanderer" is an example of that. Is about exile, migration, vulnerability and above all fear.
Every work of this artist incites emotion.
