IVONALDO
(1943-2016)
He was born in Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil and died just three months ago.
In São Paulo he began as a painter, but in 1968 moved to Europe holding solo exhibitions in Germany, France, The Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.
I had the chance to know him in Brussels and when I saw his naif paintings it was a coup de foudre.
He returned to Brazil living for several years in Olinda with an atelier opened to visitors.
The strong colors of his work are in several museums and lots of private collections.
Once he said: "Gosto de pintar a beleza, a bondade e a simpatia do povo brasileiro".
