WASSILY KANDINSKY
16 December 1866, Moscow, Russia - 13 December 1944, Neuilly-sur- Seine, France
Studied law. It was not till he was thirty that he decided to devote himself to painting.
In 1896 he went to Munich where he studied at the Aszbe Art Svhool.
Traveled to France, Italy and Tunisia and, when back to Munich, he became the leader of the Neue Kunstlervereinigung.
In 1912 Kandinsky published a summing-up of his views on art.
The revolution in Russia took him back to his country, as it took Chagall, Gabo and Pevsner.
In 1921 however, new policies on culture forced him to leave the country again and, 10 years later, he was to be again refugee once again, but this time from the Nazis. Going to Paris he settled at Neuilly where he died.
