GUSTAV KLIMT
14 July 1862, Baumgarten - 6 February 1918, Vienna, Austria
He was a symbolist painter and also noted for his murals and other art objects.
Once he was criticized as pornographic because of some of his paintings as you may see in one example here.
He lived in poverty during his student life in the Vienna kunstgewerbeschule (school of applied arts and crafts).
In 1888 Klimt received the Golden Order of Merit from the Emperor of Austria
