VIKTOR HARTMANN
5 May 1834, St Petersburg - 4 August 1876, Kireyevo, Russia
After graduating the Academy of Fine Arts with distinction he went to Paris where he spent three years to continue his studies. At a young age start working by illustrating books. Architect and painter but also a designer. He was responsible for the design for costumes. He made several sketches for the ballet "Trilby", a story of Charles Nodier. Hartmann considered the great gate of Kiev is best work.
