WILLIAM ROBERTS
1895-1980
Born 5 June in Hacknney, London, United Kingdom.
In 1909 began working at an advertising firm intending to become a poster designer. And at that time attended evening classes at St Martin's School of Art in London.
During the First World War he enlisted in the Royal Regiment of Artillery and during that period painted commissioned by the British Ministry of Information and for the Canadian War Records Office.
After the Second War, in 1948, he held an exhibition at the Royal Academy for the first time.
In 1961 received an award from the Caloust Gulbenkian Foundation.
He painted people, groups and portraits as a cubist futurist.
