HUNG LIU
Born 1948 in Changchun, China.
She raised during the Maoiste regime and studied mural painting at the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing.
Then immigrated to the United States in 1984 to attend the University of California in San Diego.
In her paintings we see refugees, soldiers, workers, prisoneers, common people suggesting the passage of memory into history.
Hung Liu have been exhibited and collected by many institutions, great museums and galleries in the United States where she still lives and works.
About the painting Mu NU, mother daughter she said: "The mother still ahead, leading the daughter. Maybe in the future shall be different. Not only like mother like daughter. Maybe she can stand up straight after a while".
