AUGUST MACKE
Born on the 3rd January 1887 in Meschede, Germany.
Studied art at Dusseldorf and lived most of his life in Bonn. Travelled widely, particularly in Italy, The Netherlands and Belgium.
Stayed several times in London and Paris where, from 1907 onwards, he became associated with Impressionism, Fauvism and Cubism.
He knew Franz Marc, Kandinsky and went with Paul Klee to Tunisia returning with a number of watercolours.
Every work of this artistic life is a masterpiece. He left us very young, in 1914, killed in the Ist War in Champaigne, France.
