ERICH FISCHL
Born in 1948 in New York, USA.
He is an American expressionist painter, sculptor and printmaker.
He studied in Phoenix College, California Institute of the Arts and Arizona University.
When his family moved to Arizona, in 1967, he dropped out not so long after. Moved to San Francisco to a bohemian lifestyle.
In 1972 moved to Chicago and worked as a guard at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
His paintings reflexe the difficult childhood, the hypocrisy of life, the feelings of discontent and his internal conflicts.
He says about his paintings "all interpretations are valid, though only a few are consciously intended".
He lives and works in New York where he is a senior critic at the New York Academy of Art.
