He was born in 1928 in Sydney, Australia.
Worked as an illustrator in the Sydney Newspaper while attending night classes at Technical College.
In 1953 was co-founder of the Melbourne Contemporary Art Society, and was also responsible for the Antipodean Manifest (the protest against the dominance of abstract expressionism and non-figurative art).
In 1960 moved to London and ten years later went to Paris living there with his family.
Three marriages and three divorces completed his artistic life, his poetic paintings with implicite naivety.
He is represented in many private and public collections around the world and considered one of the most original figurative painters in Australia.
Now, aged 88 he suffers from dementia and lives a simple life in Sydney.
