(1925-2015)
Amancio Miranda Guedes, known as Pancho Guedes, was a Portuguese architect born in Lisbon in 1925.
In Mozambique, were he lived the most part of his life, we can see a big part of his work. More than 150 buildings still stan in Maputo.
He also left us sculptures and paintings but, as an architect, he was someone that brought modernism to the Portuguese architecture based in his special inspiration mixed of Surrealism, Art Nouveau, Dadaism, African art and Portuguese culture.
Someone said about his work: "A sua arquitectura tem muitas lá dentro, muitos estilos, muitas linguagens".
In fact, he was modern before the Modernism. He was free. And, as he said: " My projects are always depending on my dreams".
He died in 2015 in South Afrika.
