Representative of early expressionism she was a pioneer of modern art and the first woman to paint a full nude self-portrait.
Fascinated by Holbein and Rembrandt drawn to the art culture in Paris became strongly influenced  by Cezanne and Gauguin.
In Bremen her home where she spent most of her short life is, since 2007, an art museum and gallery.
She traveled a lot visiting museums in Austria, Scandinavian countries, Switzerland etc.
What more could she give to us if her life could be longer.
