GIACOMO MANZÚ
22 December 1908, Bergamo - 17 January 1991, Rome, Italy
He was born into a large and poor family and very early age he worked in an atelier de décoration.
During his military service he managed to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Verona.
In 1936, he visited Paris and, on his return to Milan, he took part in the current controversies among the most advanced artistic groups.
In 1941 he received a teaching appointment at the Brera Academy in Milan.
He also did bas-reliefs and religious ornaments.
During his career he had never entirely thrown off the influences that dominated his first period - Rodin, Degas, Medardo Rosso.
