CORNEILLE
(Cornelis van Beverloo)
3 July 1922, Liège, Belgium - 5 September 2010, Auvers sur Oise, France
Son of Dutch parents he began study drawing at the Art Academy in Amsterdam.
He became a painter, printmaker, ceramist and writer.
In Holland he founded, with Appel and Constant, the experimental Reflex group.
In 1948 he was one of the founders of the international group Cobra.
Less agressive and more poetic than his colleagues in these experimental groups, his early work had certain affinities with Miró and Paul Klee until his departure from this style.
