OROVIDA
1893-1968
Born in Epping, United Kingdom.
Her real name was Orovida Pissarro belonging to a family of artists.
In the family, the french impressionist Camille Pissarro, his heldest son, Lucian Pissarro, followed his footsteps becoming also an artist. And he had a child named Orovida who also became an artist as we may see here in some of her art works.
Orovida, during her childhood, studied painting with her father Lucian, but when aged of 20 she rejected the family painting style and even her last name. She wanted to be known as Orovida.
She studied with the Japanese painter Tatuo Takayama.
Orovida was completely fascinated with the japanese prints and the art from India.
