EMILE SAVITRY
1903-1967
Born in Saigon, Vietnam.
Studied between 1920-1924 at the Fine Art School in Valence. Then, in Paris, at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière.
Began as a painter during a small period until, in 1933, started working for the Agence Rapho and became assistant of Brassai.
And soon became considered the photographer of Montparnasse. Most of his photos are the good reflexe of the atmosphere of Paris between 1930 and 1950 (the common people of Pigalle and the cellars of Saint-Germain des Près).
