LUIS ALBERTO ACUÑA

1904-1994

Born in Suaita, Santander, Colombia.

This renowed painter, sculptor and historian studied at the Colegio Universitário del Socorro, at the Instituto Central Técnico and then at the Academia de Belas Artes in Bogotá.

Also studied in Paris at the École des Beaux Arts and at the Grand Chaumière.

His first solo exhibition was in the Gallery Marck in Paris.

When he returned to Colombia, in 1929, became Rector of the Centro de Bellas Artes de Bucaramanga. And one year later was appointed professor of Drawing at the National College of San Bartolomé in Bogotá.

Later was professor of Anatomical drawing and sculpture at the Universidad Nacional.

And in 1951 became member of the Academia de Historia Boyacense.

He left us a great art in murals, sculptures, paintings and book illustrations.
