JOHN COPLANS
(1920-2003)
Born in 24 June in London, United Kingdom.
At the age of two he went with his family to South Afrika returning to England in 1937 where he was commissioned into the Royal Air Force.
After the II World War studied at the Abbey Art Center to become an artist.
In the 50s began attending lectures at the Institute of Contemporary Arts where was introduced to Pop Art movement and became as critic and curator.
In 1960 left England and emigrated to the United States.
Coplans was an awarded artist, art writer, curator, art critic, museum director and began his career in photography only at age of 60.
His photographs are featured in over several museum collections all over the world.
