TOULOUSE-LAUTREC (1)
(1864-1901)
Born in Albi, France.
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was an aristocrat painter, printmaker and art nouveau illustrator. One of the best painters of the Post-Impressionists.
Contributed with many illustrations to the magazine Le Rire and, when the cabaret Moulin Rouge opened, he was commissioned to produce a serie of posters. Also was often commissioned to advertise famous performers in his prints.
He created wonderful work that was inseparable from his legendary life. A portrait of the bohemian life in Paris, with his paintings and drawings with mouvement, in a photographic style and an impressionist influence.
His short stature with a grotesque appearance, the disability and health problems immersed himself in art, completely. But, only until the moment the alcoholism problems came and he died at the age of 36.
It is possible to see his works in many museums all over the world, but specially in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
