MARC RIBOUD (1)
(1923-2016)
Born in Saint Genis-Laval, France.
Studied engineering at the École Centrale in Lyon. Started working but a few years later decided to become a photographer.
In 1953 he was invited by Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa to join Magnum Photos Agency.
Two years later began travelling through the world, Afghanistan, India, China, Vietnam, Algeria, Ghana, South Afrika among many other countries.
His work is exhibited in numerous galleries and museums from Tokyo to New York.
He received many awards and prizes for the merit of his work as photographer, the far east reporter, or as someone called him Monsieur le Prince de la Photographie.
