Born in 1935 in Sacavém, Portugal.
His first photo published in a Portuguese newspaper happened when he was 12 years old.
Very young he began working in an office but in 1952 he left that job to become a photographer in the main news papers and magazines at the time.
He is a photographer in the style of Cartier-Bresson and Doisneau. He captures life, people, moments, and some of those works are included in the document history of Portugal.
Gageiro knows the right moment and technically his black and white pictures are perfect.
He also produced several photobooks, some of them with the collaboration of famous Portuguese writers as David Mourão Ferreira and António Lobo Antunes. And also for the Deustche Gramophone, Yamaha and Cartier.
Awarded all over the world, in 2005 he got the 1st prize at the 11th International Photography in China, the world's biggest photography competion.
And now, this 81 years old photographer still woks as a freelancer and continue giving us sublime pictures.
